There’s nothing like summer in the city, and the 4th of July is the best day of the season to celebrate it! This year, I’m spending Independence Day with my friends and family in Manhattan. I couldn’t be more stoked to flash some red white and blue, to have some fun in the sun, and to enjoy an epic firework display!
New York City is one of the world’s most vibrant fashion hubs, and also the most patriotic city in the country. So many of our ancestors arrived right here on Ellis Island, and were ushered in by Lady Liberty herself. I love how rich the city’s history is, and it doesn’t hurt that it makes a killer backdrop for fashion bloggers like myself. I celebrate NYC every day as a resident, but the 4th of July is the time to celebrate everything that makes our country so great!
So, what am I wearing this 4th of July?! I’ve got the perfect outfit picked out from Express, and one I think anyone can replicate. It has everything you need for the holiday: the colors, the Americana flavor, and the summer vibe to tie it all together.
Let’s start at the top! My top is a super-comfortable (not to mention CUTE) white off the shoulder peasant top. I love this shirt’s lightweight cotton fabric and the subtle lacey design on the front and sleeves — it’s really girly and casual at the same time, and can match with everything.
Now for the shorts! These Express jean cut-offs just scream summer to me. There’s nothing more American than denim cut-off shorts. They’re the perfect piece of denim for hanging by the pool with friends all day and singing along to Luke Bryan all night. These shorts have a stylish fray and add even more of an American flair to the look.
Accessories, as you know, are what really pull an outfit together. Since the shirt and the shorts are classic staples this is where I like to get creative! The floppy beach hat is a natural seasonal addition, providing shade from the hot-July sun and will bring a relaxed, beachy feel to the city streets. My bag is white leather, but it’s the detailing I love most. Perfect, no? My scarf introduces black and white stars to the outfit for some fun pattern play that goes super well with the ensemble.
Lastly, the shoes!!! I love these gray bootie heels so much; they without a doubt add some extra oomph to my look. Seriously, it’s amazing what difference some heels can make. The lace-up details and chunky block heels will be perfect for hitting the New York pavement, bringing the right amount of class and comfort all at once.
I can’t wait to celebrate this 4th of July in style, right here in New York with my friends and family! There’s seriously no better place to let summer days melt into summer nights and see fireworks above the stunning skyline from nearly any roof. I’m glad I’ve got the right look to fit the day, but I’m even more excited just kick back and celebrate my country with my fellow New Yorkers. Enjoy the holiday, everyone!!
